Job Summary
The VP of Culinary ensures the highest level of culinary standards are maintained within the Division for Flik Independent School Districts. They are responsible for maintaining all assigned Divisional responsibilities including hiring and training of executive chefs, menu creation, cost reduction, establishing and maintaining culinary standards and more. Nine (9) regional and district culinary roles report directly to VP. The role is "hands on" in support of all chefs with culinary development, new and rebid sales, catering events, and standards implementation and adherence for 300 accounts and growing!
Key Responsibilities:
Manages culinary leaders, holds them accountable to Sector/Division Standards and provides training, coaching and development of culinary personnel within the Division.
Orientates new chefs and managers to Core Culinary Standards, and established food programs.
Assists with development and ensures the implementation of all Culinary Programs and Standards across the business.
Partners with purchasing and supply chain to facilitate ingredient selection, maintenance of managed order guides and supplier optimization.
Provides leadership support for new account openings.
Develops a long-term culinary strategy that balances consumer expectations with corporate financial goals/budgets.
Maintains strategic accountability for overall menu/product offerings including food cost controls, core recipe standardization, portion standards, inventory management, prep standards, food safety and waste/cost control programs.
Keeps FISD Executive leadership team informed of culinary issues and resolutions.
Manages culinary innovation pipeline projects, participates in R&D through to implementation.
Completes all required reports, logs, and assessments in a timely manner.
Communicates effectively with all stakeholders including division leadership, executive leadership team, FLIK peer groups and unit level teams, clients, and potential clients.
Reads and complies with all policies and procedures of FLIK/Compass as appropriate.
Displays positive attitude toward all lines of the business operations, sets the professional standard at all times.
Ensures division accounts meet all safety and HACCP metrics.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts preferred/or equivalent professional culinary experience
7+ years of progressive culinary experience with managed volume $300M
- Strong executive presence
Prior VP level experience strongly desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, leadership, mentoring and training skills
Strategic and analytic thinker with the ability to adapt to evolving market conditions.
Project management skills preferred
Strong technical skills in MS office, recipe management and nutrition systems
Ability to generate organic growth by building top line driven initiatives with middle and bottom-line tactics top of mind
A proven track record of innovation leadership and scaling for growth
Ability to travel 60%+
Must be based on the East Coast and near a major airport
