Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager of Security Engineering, the Manager of Cloud Security Engineering will be responsible for and play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining the infrastructure security of our cloud environments as well as related platforms, software, and configurations. This position will be held within the CISO Office of Compass Group NA.
The Manager of Cloud Security Engineering will lead a team of Cloud Security Engineers as well as work with internal departments, security vendors, and security staff to enhance the overall cloud security strategy supporting Compass Group’s goals of reducing risk, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards, best practices, and alignment with security control frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support Cloud Security Engineering team, establishing team and individual goals that support overall security objectives. Recruit, train, and mentor staff. Conduct regular performance appraisals.
Assist with strategic planning, driving improvements and providing input on capabilities and methods for cloud security engineering. Drive operational excellence, developing thorough and clear documentation and systems automation.
Manage team tasks and prioritization of work efforts including regular status updates and reporting to leadership
Act as a trusted advisor for security related questions and concerns. Must be able to perform hands-on support for a wide range of Cloud Security technologies including, but not limited to: AWS, GCP, Azure, and CNAPP.
Develop, deploy, and operate security mechanisms within AWS, GCP, and Azure environments
Enhance cloud security for networks, applications, and cloud-based systems
Guide and lead mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities and threats
Integrate, maintain, and continuously improve security toolsets to maximize performance, visibility, alerting and monitoring
Perform regular audits of cloud security controls and adherence to cloud architecture standards
Develop processes and procedures to ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards and best practices
Perform project leadership tasks on security initiatives and projects
Provide general guidance and subject matter expertise on cloud-native security controls and best practices
Participate in incident response activities as needed
Participate in projects sponsored by Security, technology, and business teams
Collaborate with security team members as well as other teams as needed to assess and address security requirements for cloud projects and initiatives
Continually stay informed of evolving security standards, industry knowledge, actively share knowledge, and foster exchange of skills and information
Responsibility for any other tasks as directed and at the discretion of management
Qualifications and Experience
4+ years of technical cloud engineering experience within cybersecurity and information technology and 2+ years of management experience, leading teams
Proven experience as a manager and leader with a focus in either AWS, GCP, or Azure including designing, implementing, and securing cloud-based infrastructure and technologies
Strong knowledge of cloud security principles, best practices, and industry standards (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001, CIS)
Experience with cloud security tools and services, such as AWS/GCP/Azure security services, identity and access management (IAM), security groups, network security, encryption, CICD processes, and key management
Experience with cloud security monitoring and logging tools (e.g. AWS CloudTrail, AWS Security Hub, GCP Security Command Center, CloudWatch, SIEM)
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash and automation tools for security tasks and infrastructure provisioning
Knowledge of container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective security solutions.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines, both individually and as a leader of a team
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team-oriented environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present security-related concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
